Machine Vision and Manipulation (AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!)

Aquanaut’s manipulation capabilities are powered by machine vision.  It’s no big secret and lot’s of robotics companies today use optical data to help robots make semi-autonomous decisions.  Aquanaut has a pretty unique machine vision system as the vehicle operates in the ocean.  That requires both classic stereo cameras, light-based point cloud sensors, and sonar.  The picture attached to this post shows our early machine vision systems integrated onto a test rig.  We tightly integrated these systems into our manipulation system in order to automate manipulation.
