With Robotics, Industries Have the Opportunity to Get Creative
For decades, companies the world over have depended on advanced automation to produce and assemble the products they put out each day. From organic shampoos to top-of-the-line automobiles, technology plays its role in virtually every business out there. Today, thanks to ongoing improvements in robotics, industries have more options than ever before. Take a look at some of the ways companies are enhancing their everyday work with robotic innovations.
Shaken, Not Stirred
Makr Shakr, which touts itself as “the world’s first robotic bar system,” utilizes robotic arms to mix cocktails, while its software provides real-time statistics regarding drink consumption. The bot can mix a reported 120 drinks per hour, and, as The Guardian notes, serves as designated bartender on some Royal Caribbean cruise ships.
Shop ‘til You Drop
Intelligent automation has turned the retail world on its head in recent years, upgrading the way businesses do everything from sorting products to greeting people at the door. ITWire.com says Australian company Lakeba, for instance, has created a “shelfie” robot capable of helping shops monitor inventory and track demand through advanced scanning technology. Meanwhile, Popular Science notes that testing is underway for Starship Technologies’ delivery robots which have the ability to transport groceries, packages and even fast food orders directly to customers’ doors.
Dollars and Cents
Customers at India’s City Union Bank have found themselves interacting with a new type of financial representative — humanoid robots able to answer banking-related questions. According to a Business Standard article, other banks plan to continue the trend, developing robots that can aid in transactions, improve customer service and aid in growth.
It doesn’t end there. The beauty of the automation world lies in the fact that there is no limit to technology’s reach, or to the benefits it could bring to each and every industry out there.
